My new activity brings peace to our family!

Mama Chech (47) is part of one of the savings and credit groups set up as part of the Karamoja project. She has 10 children (8 girls and 2 boys). The oldest is 25 years old and the youngest is 2 years old.

"After receiving training in entrepreneurship from FH Switzerland, I decided to open a small catering shop. I talked about it with my husband who gave me a goat. With the help of a loan, I bought food and kitchen utensils. I open one day a week, Friday, which is also market day in the area. Overwhelmed by the customers, I had to call my 2 adult daughters as backup! To cope with the demand, we slaughtered 3 goats. After 1 month, I was already able to pay back my credit and the interests. My new activity has greatly improved the family atmosphere. Before, the whole family depended on my husband as head of the family for basic needs. This caused a lot of arguments. I now have an income and am fully involved in family planning and decision-making, as a woman I am no longer solely associated with the children."
